Drinking dark-colored cola increases the risk of kidney disease, reports a study in Epidemiology. Investigators surveyed 932 people and found that slamming two or more dark-colored sodas, like Coke or Dr Pepper (regular or diet), per day doubled the risk of developing the disease- and the more people drank, the greater the risk. Clear sodas such as Sprite didn't affect risk. Why? Phosphoric Acid, which increases cola's acidity and gives it its unique taste, may encourage the development of kidney stones, which can lead  to kidney disease Swap out all soda for water, 100 percent juice, skim or soy milk.
